We would recommend you follow these steps after installing dataMAP
Specify a default workspace
Follow these steps to specify the workspace that appears when users launch dataMAP.
- Create an MVS file displaying the background maps with thresholds etc. (refer to dataMAP help)
- Save the file to X:\dataMAP\Config\Default.MVS
- From the menu, selet Tools > Configuration > "Edit System Configuration"
- Under workspace, select "Default workspace"
- Click browse and select "X:\dataMAP\Config\Default.MVS"
- Restart dataMAP and verify that the default view appears

Specify a default print template
This allows you to put information such as the OS license number on all printouts by default.
- Select File > Print and create a .DPS2 print template
- Save the file to X:\dataMAP\Config\Default.DPS2
- From the menu, selet Tools > Configuration > Edit System Configuration
- Under printing, select "Default print template"
- Click browse and select "X:\dataMAP\Config\Default.DPS2"

Setting up map management
This allows you to quickly add and remove maps from locations you have configured. See the help file for further information.
- Load some maps or a workspace containing some maps users would like to add.
- From the menu, select View > Windows > "Map Management".
- In the "Map Management" panel, right click on "Maps" and select "Edit Mode"
- Right click on "Maps" again and select "Add loaded map" and select the map you want to add. The map should appear in the tree.
- Right click on "Maps" again and select "Save Config". The file should be written to "X:\dataMAP\Config\MapManagement.xml"

Adding application builder maps
This allows you to use your existing dataMAP 3.21 application builder maps
- From the map panel, right click on Maps and select "Add maps..."
- Select "Application Builder Overlay" and press OK
- Select the application builder map, optionally tick "Show Linked Documents".
- If performance is slow, pressing F12 and click options. From there you can add indexes to the database.
- We would recommend you go through all your maps at a quiet time and add indexes.

Specifying gazetteer configuration
Follow these steps to save the dataMAP 3.21 gazetteer configuration. This is necessary if you want to add your own gazetteer files such as the LLPG.
- Click on the Search button in the toolbar
- Click the "Save..." button.
- Save the file to X:\dataMAP\Config\Gaz.SIAGazDef
- From the menu, Tools > Configuration > "Edit System Defaults..."
- Under "Main Configuration" edit "Gazetteer Configuration File".
- Click Browse, specify X:\dataMAP\Config\Gaz.SIAGazDef, save changes and restart.

Generating DMR Maps
This allows you to generate a high performance index of your raster maps.
- From dataMAP, select Help > Index
- Locate "DMR" in the index and follow the instructions
- Copy the DMR file onto the network (we would recommend X:\dataMAP\DMR\)
- Update your default workspace to refer to this DMR file
